A longer programme does not buy a better teacher. It buys permission to go backwards before going forwards, to plan around a date rather than a syllabus, and to let a child have a difficult month without it costing the year.

What changes here is the scope of the conversation. We stop talking only about the next examination and start talking about what this child is going to be: which universities, which courses, whether further mathematics is the right call, which admissions tests are worth sitting and when to begin them. That conversation is only worth having with somebody who has taught your child for a hundred hours and who has actually built the things they are being asked about.

Elite Programme

A full year, on a timetable that is set ahead and held.

Two things change here, and neither of them is a feature. The timetable stops being negotiated: it is set a month ahead and held, and nobody has to ask again. And questions get answered between classes, which sounds small and is not, because the moment a child is stuck at nine on a Tuesday evening is the moment learning either continues or quietly stops.

Where it stops. The conversation stays on this year. If you want somebody thinking about universities and admissions tests alongside the teaching, that begins at Platinum.

The examination year

Excellence Programme

The examination year, planned backwards from the date on the paper.

Sixty classes is the first point at which we can afford to be wrong. A marked mock every month tells us what is not landing while there is still time to change course twice, rather than discovering it in April when there is time to change course never. Examination technique is a taught skill in its own right and it needs a term of its own. Here there is room for it.

Where it stops. The timetable is still arranged class by class. If your family wants it set ahead and held, that begins at Elite.

There is one engineer and a finite number of hours in a week. Places on the year long programmes are limited by arithmetic rather than by marketing, and most are taken during the summer.

Two terms, planned as one, around a grade you have named.

With two terms we can work backwards from an outcome rather than forwards from a syllabus. That is long enough to rebuild a foundation and still arrive on time, which means your child is allowed to have a difficult month without it costing the result. Most families choose this one, and most of them are right to.

Where it stops. It assumes the examination is a year or less away. If it is further out than that, the year long programmes plan the ground better.

A term

Growth Programme

A term. The first point at which we can stop following the school timetable.

This is the largest single change in what becomes possible anywhere on this page, and it is why twenty is the number we most often suggest first. If your child’s difficulty with calculus is really a difficulty with fractions, a term is long enough to spend three weeks in October on fractions and still arrive where the class is. Anything shorter cannot afford that detour, so it never takes it.

Where it stops. A term buys one detour. It does not buy three.

Essentials

A way in that asks very little. Nothing here is a lesser standard of teaching. It is a shorter horizon, and for many families that is the right one.

Foundation Programme

Ten classes. Long enough to find out what is actually wrong.

Ten is where diagnosis stops being a guess. By the fourth or fifth class we usually know whether the difficulty is arithmetic fluency, or notation, or reading the question, or simply that nobody has ever told this child they are allowed to be slow. Then we repair the first of them properly.

Where it stops. We will almost certainly find more than ten classes can repair. We will tell you exactly what we found and what it would take, and you are free to do nothing about it.

Month to month

Monthly Membership

Kept level with what school is teaching, month to month.

Homework is marked, confusion is cleared before it compounds, and nothing accumulates quietly across a term. A great many families never need more than this.

Where it stops. It is necessarily reactive. A month is not long enough to afford a detour, so we can only ever work on what school covered last, not on the thing two years back that is causing it.

We can diagnose, unblock a single topic, and show you exactly how we teach. It is the honest way to find out whether this is right for your child before anybody commits to anything longer.

Where it stops. What an hour cannot do is change how a child thinks about the subject. That takes considerably longer.

Questions

Three things parents ask before they begin.

What if it is not working?

Tell us and we stop, and unused classes are refunded in full, at any point. That is the whole policy.

Can one programme cover more than one subject?

Yes. A single programme can move between mathematics and physics, and space exploration often becomes the standing final class of the month. The plan says so from the start, and it can change at half term.

How do we pay?

In full, or in monthly instalments on the longer programmes at no additional cost. The total is the same either way. Classes are released alongside the payments, so you are never paying ahead of the teaching.
