Overview

This is the whole Year 8 algebra year, one clear level up from Series No. 01. Fifty-seven pages take a student from negatives, powers and the index laws, through expanding and factorising, into equations with the unknown on both sides, inequalities, rearranging formulae, the nth term and the straight line — then straight into an Exam Lab that rehearses it all under pressure.

It is designed to be skimmed in thirty minutes the night before a test, or worked through properly in two to four hours for a genuine, lasting grip on the year. Every calculation and worked solution has been verified, and the coverage is checked against the shared core of the UK, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Singapore programmes.

Who it’s for

  • Students in Year 8 / Grade 8 (ages 12–14) who want a calm, complete recap of algebra
  • Anyone who finished the Year 7 crash course and is ready for the next level
  • Parents looking for a rigorous, screen-light revision resource that actually gets used
  • Stronger students ready to stretch into Level 3 material such as double brackets
  • Anyone moving between the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Singapore systems

Topics included

  • Negatives, Powers & Indices — the sign rules and the full set of index laws
  • Expand & Factorise — single and double brackets, and factorising back out
  • Equations & Inequalities — the unknown on both sides, brackets, fractions and number lines
  • Formulae & Rearranging — changing the subject without losing signs or steps
  • Sequences — term-to-term rules and the nth term, mastered
  • Straight-Line Graphs — gradient, intercept and y = mx + c
  • Exam Lab — the LAUNCH method, a 24-question mixed review and full solutions

What your child will be able to do

  • Apply every index law with confidence, including zero and negative powers
  • Expand double brackets and factorise back out without sign slips
  • Solve equations with the unknown on both sides, brackets and fractions
  • Solve inequalities and represent the solution on a number line
  • Find the nth term of a linear sequence, and read gradient and intercept off any straight line

Yes. The moment your payment is confirmed, your PDF unlocks on the confirmation screen and a secure download link is emailed to you. No waiting, no manual approval.
Do I need the Year 7 crash course first?
No — Year 8 stands on its own and recaps what it needs as it goes. But if your child is still shaky on algebraic language and one-step equations, start with Series No. 01 and work up. The two are designed to shelve as a set.
What format is the file?
A print-ready A4 PDF of 57 pages. It opens on any phone, tablet or computer and prints cleanly at home if your child prefers paper.
Which curriculum does it follow?
It covers the shared core of Year 8 / Grade 8 algebra across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore systems, cross-checked against Oak National Academy units. No single exam board is assumed.
