Overview

This is the whole Year 10 algebra year — the quadratic year — rebuilt for revision and one level up from Series No. 03. Fifty-seven pages take a student from surds and fractional indices, through solving quadratics by factorising, completing the square and the formula, into algebraic fractions, functions, coordinate geometry and sketching curves from algebra — then straight into an Exam Lab that rehearses it all under pressure.

It is designed to be skimmed in thirty minutes the night before a test, or worked through properly in two to four hours for a genuine, lasting grip on the year. Every calculation and worked solution has been verified, and the coverage is checked against the shared core of the UK, US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Singapore programmes.

Who it’s for

  • Students in Year 10 / Grade 10 (ages 14–16) preparing for GCSE-style and equivalent exams
  • Anyone who finished the Year 9 crash course and is ready for the next level
  • Parents looking for a rigorous, screen-light revision resource that actually gets used
  • Anyone moving between the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Singapore systems

Topics included

  • Surds & Fractional Indices — simplifying surds, rationalising the denominator and fractional powers
  • Quadratic Equations — factorising, completing the square, the formula and the discriminant
  • Algebraic Fractions — simplify, multiply, divide, add, subtract and solve
  • Functions — f(x) notation, composite fg(x) and inverse f⁻¹
  • Coordinate Geometry — gradient, perpendicular lines, midpoint and length
  • Sketching Curves — parabolas from factors, the vertex, cubics, reciprocals and exponentials
  • Exam Lab — the LAUNCH method, a 24-question mixed review and full solutions

What your child will be able to do

  • Simplify and rationalise surds and evaluate fractional indices
  • Solve any quadratic by factorising, completing the square or the formula
  • Simplify and solve algebraic fractions, including the subject appearing twice
  • Work confidently with function notation, composite and inverse functions
  • Find equations of lines, perpendiculars, midpoints and lengths, and sketch curves from algebra

What’s inside
